Lewis and Clark Fountain

The Lewis and Clark Fountain was installed at the Lewis and Clark Festival Park on April 29, 2016.  Jeff Stewart of The Dalles is the artist.  

Many visonaries worked diligently over the years to assure the completion of the fountain.

What’s Happening?



Next week the City of The Dalles Public Works Department will kick-off the 2018 utility service improvement season on East 12th Street between Kelly Avenue and Dry Hollow Road. No parking zone signs will be placed on Friday March 23 ahead of street closures on Monday March 26. Motorists are asked to park vehicles outside of the work zone during work hours.

On March 26th water crews will begin replacement of water services from the main to the meter on both sides of the East 12th Street from Kelly Avenue to F Street. The purpose of the project is to upgrade services lines from galvanized pipe to copper pipe. Homes affected will be contacted directly about temporary water outages.

Full road closure will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day from Monday March 26th to Wednesday March 28th. During road closure hours, motorists are encouraged to use East 11th Street or East 13th Street as alternative routes to avoid the work area. Please see attached map for details.

In preparation for chip sealing activities in June 2018, the transportation crews will prepare the street surface on East 12th Street between Dry Hollow Road and H Street. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the pavement structure.

Rolling road closures will move through the pavement restoration project area, moving east to west from Dry Hollow Road toward H Street, throughout the day. Please see attached map to plan alternate routes around the project areas. Please see attached map for details.
